The fig tree became an image of God's blessing resting upon His people.
Jesus wasn't celebrating judgement. He was warning His people. 
A faithful tree cannot bear Heavenly fruit while drawing it's life from the world.
Jesus never pronounced a judgement He wasn't willing to bear Himself.
